Sweet Dreams with Travelodge Barnstaple

Travelodge Barnstaple

Now that I’m working from home, I visit my office back in Devon every couple of weeks. Normally I’m there for the day but this time I thought I’d make an evening of it and when the chance came to review one of Travelodge’s revamped hotels came up, I thought what a perfect way to mix business and pleasure.

Staying in an area I know very well always put me at ease and not having to wake up at the crack of dawn to get to work on time is always a winner.  So I chose to stay at the Travelodge in Barnstaple.

This hotel is perfectly situated for access to Barnstaple and Bideford town centres and has lots of services surrounding it including food, supermarkets and a retail park.  This Travelodge is reasonably priced and my room was very comfortable.  It is quite close to the main bypass in North Devon but my room was quiet and very spacious with the basics included.  This particular hotel isn’t somewhere I’d come for a romantic weekend away but it’s perfect for a short stay if you are exploring the area and are on a budget.

Now one of the main reasons for choosing a Travelodge (well after affordability) is the new Dreamer beds, made by Sleepeezee.  So what did I think of these new beds?  Well for someone that doesn’t tend to sleep very well when away from home, it was fab.  This new bed was super comfortable and I had a king size all to myself!

The next morning was an earlyish start and although this Travelodge doesn’t have a cafe area for breakfast, they provide a breakfast box with a variety of cereals, breakfast muffins and juices to enjoy in your hotel room (for a small charge).  This was perfect for me as I just needed a small bite to eat before heading to work.

This hotel has WiFi like most places you stay in but I was a little disappointed that you only get half an hour for free.  Most places I’ve stayed at even budget have not charged to connect and although it was a minimal cost of £3.00 for 24 hours, it’s still something I’d rather not have to pay extra for.

Overall for the price and comfort factor, the Travelodge Barnstaple gives you plenty comfort for an affordable stay in North Devon.
