Being more of a coffee person, I don’t drink a lot of tea but if cake is involved, I’ll always take part in a lovely afternoon tea if it’s on offer. This week was Afternoon Tea week in the UK and there has been a host of events, offers and fabulous places to celebrate this very British tradition all around the country. I was lucky enough to receive a delicious hamper in the true spirit of a Devon Cream Tea. Now I’m probably going to offend a lot of Cornish people by saying this but the Devion way (with cream first then jam) on your scone is by far the best (in my opinion).
The hamper was full of fabulous locally made produce from the region and included:
Scones from The Devon Scone Company
Hoggs Bottom Strawberry Jam
Teabags from Plymouth Tea
Fudge from Devon Cottage Organic Fudge
Clotted Cream from Langage Farm
Shortbread from Teoni’s Cookies
Organic Cider from Ashridge
Packed in a traditional wicker basket from Devon Hampers
I’m all for trying to support local producers as the items in this hamper were truly delicious. The shortbread was unlike any I have ever tasted, it was so tasty and I will definitely be buying some more. Luckily they sell them in my local shop. There’s still time to go and enjoy a scrummy afternoon tea to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week, take a look at the website to find some great offers and locations to enjoy this delicious UK tradition.
